Peter Rabbit speaks Gaelic

You’ll soon be able to hear the sweetest collection of farm animals ever invented (just my view) talking Gaelic.
Five Beatrix Potter stories have so far been recorded onto CD, Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Jemima Puddleduck, Jeremy Fisher and Squirrel Nutkin, with voices by Dr John MacInnes, Mairi Sine Campbell, Catriona MacNeil and Ann Smart, and original music for each character by Karen Marshalsay.
Will Lamb of Razorfish in North Uist has done the final mix and mastering.
I’ve written about it in the press and will post links as they become available.
This is blogging, you can gush (see first sentence) and be lazy (see last sentence.)
But I am giving myself a small excuse in that we are heading to The Mainland tomorrow. This means Mr Mac gradually works himself into a fever pitch all day about packing, which suitcase/briefcase/shirts/socks/underpants/suits etc etc he’s going to take. It’s an all-day job for Uistlady to keep him calm; shave the back of his neck which always starts to prickle him intolerably at this point; trim his eyebrows which always seem to bolt just before we go anywhere; and generally snip off wayward bits of his coiffure.
So I’m going to be busy and The Belles won’t even get a look in, most likely. I will be finishing off their story soon, as I must now focus on a forthcoming trip to the townships of Cape Town and I can’t quite reconcile the two worlds.

Beatrix Potter.. who doesn’t love her stories? .. Jemima The Puddle Duck has been my son’s favourite and the very first time we came across the little book was on board Thai Airways from Jakarta to Muscat (Oman). The book was part of the kid’s pack from the airways and it was bilingual; English and Thai. It’s so lovely that the sweet little stories are coming in wider variety of languages.. :-)

Thanks so much for your comment, orcalion, it’s fascinating to know that the stories are in Thai as well. Beatrix Potter really does have world-wide appeal, the sign of a true genius, don’t you think?
