X degrees of separation

Here’s a challenge. We cannot be defeated on this one. How many degrees of separation between us, and the parcel that’s in our house but not meant for us?
The postie appeared with a package addressed thus:
The Macaulys
Uist
Shetland Islands
It’s from Germany, so some insular confusion maybe permitted.
Sometimes things for Uist get delivered to Unst, in Shetland, but the postie told us the parcel has done the full round of Shetland with no joy.
There are plenty of Macaulays in Uist, so the parcel is now on its rounds here. It has already been eliminated from postcodes HS7 and HS8, and is now with us, in HS6.
Mr Mac accepted the parcel because we have friends in Germany who often send us things- but we quickly realised we aren’t the intended recipients.
Handily, the senders have put their name on the front. But we will not be defeated by having to send it back!
Do any Macaulays out there know family called Peterhoff, from Am Stocken 22, in Lenggries, Bavaria?
If so please get in touch via Susy Macaulay on Facebook, uistlady@twitter or through this site, you have a delightful hand-made calendar awaiting you. (I’m afraid Mr Mac opened it in error.)
And as my daughter had a lost wallet returned intact to her in Chile after the finders traced her though Facebook, I have every confidence that we, as a globe, can solve this one.

I have found a telephone number for the sender, want me to give it a try? Alternatively, I could send a letter in German to these chaps.

  2. Uist Lady says:

Cool! A call could always establish which island they meant, and a bit more about the Macaulays in question. Danke schon, Guido!

  3. Guido says:

I’ll put out a call Monday pm, will keep you posted

  4. Uist Lady says:

Thanks very much, Guido. We await with interest…

  5. Guido says:

I have spoken to Mr Peterhoff by telephone this afternoon, and I now know the identity of the family for whom the calendar is intended. In spite of the spelling error in the address, it is definitely going to Unst in Shetland.

For reasons of privacy, I’ll forward details to you via Facebook.

    I ken them!
